H&M Foundation
The H&M Foundation is a non-profit global foundation, privately funded by the Stefan Persson family, founders and main owners of H&M group. Its vision is to improve lives by creating a better tomorrow, and to contribute to reaching the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
The H&M Foundation is an independent legal entity with no direct links to H&M group, working beyond the company sphere. It has its own team, strategy and board.
Their long-term vision is to contribute to reaching the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. This resonates with the H&M Foundation’s focus areas: Education, Water, Equality and Planet. In addition to this, they can also provide emergency relief.
The H&M Foundation wants to enable real impact through partnerships with ambitious goals, and be a catalyst for positive change for people and communities.
STRATEGY
Through partnerships with organisations around the world, the H&M Foundation operates on a global scale for systemic change with transformative programs, and in country specific projects to directly address human needs.
The strategy is based on three guiding principles:
- INNOVATION – we approach challenges in new ways.
- INVOLVEMENT – we involve and engage people in making a difference.
- IMPACT – we seek to achieve real change.
“The H&M Foundation is a long-term commitment from my family, and the work has only just begun.”
Karl-Johan Persson, CEO H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB, Board member of H&M Foundation
Since 2013, the Stefan Persson family has donated 1.3 billion Swedish krona ($177 million) to the H&M Foundation.
